SATISFACTION : Excerpts from a speech
Posted by SuperHypersonic under SuperHyperSonic
[Excerpt from an audience open session ,post a speech I made recently ]
But what is satisfaction? Is lack of satisfaction one of our greatest sufferings? Most probably.
For most people, satisfaction implies the material, tangible things. But is it really the path to satisfaction? We can
enjoy a certain level of wealth, hoping it gives us some satisfaction. But complete satisfaction still eludes. The
human mind if untrained can be capricious. The more we enjoy something, the more we desire something else. One sees
many people surrounded by wealth, fame ,attention, however, they have no peace, no contentment. And this deprivation
makes them feel like the most miserable beings in the world.
What then , can make one satisfied? Good Karma?
What is Karma?
Is it any different then oneself?
How do I define it?I feel we ourselves are the energy , the eternal energy that is the universe. One doesn’t come
into the world, one comes out of it, like a wave from the ocean. We are not strangers here. Instead everything that happens to us, is our own doing, everything we experience, is by us, our karma. We are the orifice through which the whole energy of the universe is aware of itself. Most of us are only unaware of this as most of the time our consciousness is distracted by more material and unrealistic expectations.
To be satisfied then, is to realize the circle of life. You can accumulate all the wealth in the world but one day you must depart. You can love a lot of tangible things , people and so on, but one day they all shall part. When we die, we leave alone, isn’t it? What we leave behind is the positivity that we created. No one can escape the circle , but you can create a positive karma.
How can you be satisfied?
Is there a universal answer? I don’t know. I only know what I practice. I can share that.
*Never hurt someone intentionally.
*Apologize if you do.
*Mean it ,whenever you apologize.
*Do not hold grudges.
*Forgive.
*….And try to forget.
*Do not compare, be content with what you have. Remember everyone has a different life and their satisfaction will differ
from yours. Do not compare.
*Find goodness in all those around you. Nobody is perfect but nobody can be totally imperfect either.
*Realize that hatred, anger and regret are the worst possible emotions. Keep no room for them in your life.
*Accept your faults. It would only help you.
*Do not help someone hoping for something in return.
*Do not change yourself to please anyone.
*Change your attitude NOT your soul.
And remember you are an individual. Unique and different from those around you.
Know yourself, introspect and then choose your happiness, your satisfaction.

but how does one not be selfish and self concerned? Life’s a rolling stones song ..cant get no satisfaction

will love to read it.
But you have always been far above the menailities of life
Anyway a great great piece, upload the entire speech
Well this is a nice topic. Well, would love to read the complete speech.
This speech on Karma is what Lord Krishna Has spoken about in Bhagvad Gita.
“karmanye vadhika raste; Ma phaleshu kadachana; ma karma phala he tur bhuh, ma te sangvasta karmani;”
Which I hope you know what it means, still I will put it down over here,
You have a duty, you have an obligation to do, but you have no right to expect a particular consequence or result or fruit to follow from what you do. This is a very difficult, pithy enunciation in the Bhagavadgita - that we have duties but we cannot expect any fruits from the duties that we perform.
So regardless of whatever we think and however we avoid the temptation of not to get something back in return, subconsciously we do so. Thus this again rolls the wheels of our Karma. Its a catch 22 situation, where, I remember mentioning it to you, that every beginning has an end and that every end always has a new beginning.
Somehow our satisfaction and Karma are linked. When you wanted something u had a desire, when you achieve that, you are still not satisfied and you still want something better than that. Achieving something must lead to Satisfaction, but in turn this end leads us into desiring to achieve something new. See, this is the Karmic cycle. A soul is never satisfied, however it may try to escape this. Even trying to escape these karmic schackles lead to a desire and to satisfy every desire begins a new cycle of Karma.
Let me know what you think.
But if we accept our faults, dont people use it againt us?
How do you write so well ?
But a very inspiring passage
