A joke leads to a story sometimes

Living in a foreign country can be a great learning experience.
It can also be an eye-opener.
One hears all sorts of generalisations living in a place but when you

travel and spend a substantial amount of time in a new place, you get

acquainted with the culture, with the people and learn how things

function and why they function the way they do.

As an Indian, one thing I constantly hear during the conversations

about comparisons of India and the west is how [most]Indians are still

rooted in their culture and they have a sense of their family &

heritage. The problems found in the western society especially

disintegrating families etc. are discussed and the blame is squarely

put upon the lack of a family system and cultural upbringing.

However, having lived in Europe for quite a while, I beg to disagree.

[a little, only a little]
People here are not into frivolous relationships because of the so-

called principle-less western culture. Families and marriages are not

disintegrating because of this lack of bonding or feelings.
The culprit here my friends is purely the latin alphabet !

Read on, I have a point. [Do I ? ]

Have you ever noticed how things are spelt in Europe? Even if you

haven’t been here, perhaps on a TV show or in a magazine, notice how a

‘church is spelt.Or Louis or any word that features the alphabet U.

Church is chVrch, Louis is loVis and so on….

And that’s where I made this startling discovery. This is the reason

that relationships here do not seem to last. It’s not the people, it is

the alphabet.Especially the alphabet V!

Picture this, a child starts to read and write. And s/he starts to

learn. Lessons learnt in childhood impact us through our life. And if

you ask a child to write ‘I love u’ what does s/he write?

‘I love V’. And s/he reads it I love u. However, the child grows up

and learns better English and realizes V can also mean We, and can

denote a plural. And which implies polygamy won’t be a bad idea. And

so, the vicious circle begins.

Would you blame this person who was but an innocent child once? Would

you blame yourself as you instructed the child to use SMS language

[instead of making him/her write the word’you’ ,you asked for ‘u’]

Would you blame the upbringing or the culture? No!!!!

It is the Latin alphabet I tell you. It’s 2009! Let go of the weird

spellings…..Give vs ovr Vowel back! Give the vowel U back its dve!

And thank yov for reading.I love v all! :P
